about

The particles can be imagined as microscopic balls, perfectly elastic, emitted by the sound source and moving like rubber bullets from a hypothetical machine gun. They bounce off smooth surfaces and behave somewhat conventionally.

When they reach our eardrums. they hit them producing the sensation of sound. This is how the material particles emitted by the Sun reach the Earth: they can move through empty space (a region of space from which the air has been extracted), preserving their identity. But since sound is not transmitted through a vacuum. It also passes through walls and even travels long distances through metal: remember the Western movies, in which train robbers stuck their ears to the track to hear the arrival of the train long before it appeared in the distance. Therefore, we must conclude that the nature of sound is not that of particles.

The synthesis of sound based on grains or granular synthesis is a sound production technique that is based on a conception of sound in terms of particles or quanta, small explosions of energy encapsulated in an envelope and grouped in larger groups, whose organization will be determined by two main methods of temporal distribution: synchronous and asynchronous.

The synchronous method is one in which the grains are fired at more or less regular frequencies to produce sounds with a particular pitch period. For its part, the asynchronous method randomly generates the distances between the grains to produce a sound cloud

In this featured album for Darkduction's Experimental Surround Concert, he explores sounds from the Granular Synthesis, from a clarinet, an electric guitar, a church organ to a door knock, a motorcycle engine and a sinker. end of sounds make up this composition.
